Newborn photography at home is by far the easiest option for new parents, especially when you already have a small person – or a few small people – in tow.

While totally exciting and wonderful, the arrival of a new baby can shake the balance of your household like nothing else. And it can be a huge transition for the whole family. Especially for those ‘still little’ older siblings who may feel unsettled or confused by the changes.

It can be really hard to suddenly have to share your parents. And being whisked away to a strange persons studio to have photos taken can seem scary and overwhelming in those early days.

But being at home is familiar. It is comfortable. And it is safe. And even the shyest of little people will eventually warm up to a new friend in their home, especially one that likes to play games and have fun. And who has a really cool and interesting and camera toy!

Newborn photography in your home doesn’t just suit big brothers and sisters though. Dads and partners LOVE these sessions as they can be off doing their own thing when they’re not needed. Allowing Mum the opportunity to be completely present and enjoy some slow cuddles and love with bub.

And there is nothing special that needs to be done to prepare for an in-home lifestyle session. And you certainly do not need a ‘perfect’ house. They are super relaxed and incorporate the wraps, blankets and bespoke items that you already have at home.

Need more convincing? Read what Adrienne had to say about her newborn photography session at home:

“We had such a beautiful morning at our home with Ingrid photographing our little family.

With a newborn, a 20 month old and a dog, our house was mayhem and I’d barely brushed my hair.

She came in and made us feel so at ease. Our shy toddler warmed to her instantly and she managed to capture his cheeky little smile reserved only for his closest people.

Our 6 week old fell asleep as she spent time stroking his little face and getting him into a cozy position. I wanted her to come back just to help us parent!

The photos are incredible and as the boys grow, I love having such special moments, frozen in time, hanging on our walls.

We’ve had so many comments from friends on how perfect they are. We’ll definitely be asking her to come back soon to do another session…”

So please don’t wait until your baby has already arrived. Do yourself a favour and book your in-home newborn photography session now. And be thanked by your future self for your forward thinking awesomeness.

Love Ingrid xx
